Clary Rocchi
Clarinet
Clary comes to Moe and Gene Johnson High School, Dahlstrom Middle School, and McCormick Middle School with a rich musical background. Her father and brother were both career Texas Band Directors and she began playing clarinet in grade 3. With her family’s legacy and her early start, it was inevitable that
Clary would excel in her musical endeavors. She earned positions in the TMEA All-State Band and TMEA All-State Orchestra, and she performed at the TMEA convention in a 4A Honor Orchestra.
She pursued her musical education at the University of Houston, studying with Jeffrey Lerner, and at Lamar University, with Dr. Joseph Carlucci. After college, she was selected to be a member of the United States Air Force Band of the West as a featured soloist.
After serving our country, Clary continued her love of performance and leadership. She is the Principal Clarinetist of the Austin Symphonic Band—a position she held for 30 years under the direction of retired conductor Richard Floyd and that she continues now under the baton of Kyle Glaser.
Clary believes private instruction is the key to success in learning to play a musical instrument well. There is
no substitute for one-on-one help when learning and preparing for competitions. Because of Clary’s love of all things band, she is eager to pass that joy on to young band students. A gifted teacher, Clary has provided private clarinet instruction to many school districts including Hays CISD, AISD, Leander ISD, Eanes ISD, Cedar Park ISD, West Orange Cove ISD, and Beaumont ISD.
