Richard Blaylock

Saxophone

Mr. Blaylock graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a BMEd in 1976, with Honors. He was a four year member of the University Wind Ensemble and a Member of Kappa Kappa Psi in which he served as chapter president for 1975-76. Mr. Blaylock has served as a band director for 38 years during which time his bands received numerous Superior/Sweepstakes trophies for Marching and Concert/Sightreading with 1st, 2nd and 3rd bands in Middle School and High School. He is a member of Texas Music Adjudicators Association and has judged Concert, Sightreading, Solos and Ensembles for UIL and TAPPS across the state. He is a member of Texas Music Educators Association in which he served as Region Band Chairman for 8 years and also judged and hosted various Auditions at the region, area and state level. He was a 25 year member of the Corpus Christi Wind Ensemble in which he served as Principal Sax for 13 years and Interim Conductor for 3 years. Mr. Blaylock has been married for 45 years and has two children and 5 grandchildren.
