Seth McPhail

Seth McPhail is an experienced color guard educator, choreographer, and movement specialist with a deep background in both the marching arts and professional dance. His journey with performance began in high school through color guard, which sparked a lifelong passion for movement and led him to earn a BFA in Dance from Sam Houston State University.

Seth has performed with some of Texas’s leading contemporary dance companies, including The Houston Metropolitan Dance Company, NobleMotion Dance, Dark Circles Contemporary Dance, Hope Stone Dance, and Open Dance Project. His time with these companies helped refine his skills in performance quality, creative collaboration, and physical artistry—elements he now brings into his color guard instruction.

In the marching arts, Seth was a member of The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps (2005–2006), Phantom Regiment (2009), and Code Black Independent World Winter Guard (2008–2009). These elite experiences shaped his approach to movement education, focusing on musicality, discipline, and storytelling through choreography.

Seth has served as the Movement Specialist for The Woodlands High School Band and Color Guard (2016-2025), where he developed a comprehensive movement training program and choreographed for both marching band and winter guard productions. In addition, he has taught ballet, jazz, contemporary, and modern at dance studios where he also choreographed award-winning competition pieces.

As a certified yoga instructor, Seth brings a strong focus on injury prevention, body awareness, and mindfulness to all of his work. Whether in a rehearsal, on the field, or in the classroom, he is committed to creating a positive, challenging environment where students can grow as confident performers and expressive movers.
